They move into a house built for a prestigious surgeon, Dr Richard Fleischmann and his wife but abandoned when their son drowned in a tragic accident. Behind the house Max spies an overgrown garden surrounded by a metal fence topped with a six-pointed star. When he goes to investigate, Max finds statues like troupe fill the garden. In the centre is the large statue of a clown set in another six-pointed star. Max has the curious sensation that the statue is beckoning to him. As the family grows increasingly uneasy when they discover a box of old films belonging to the Fleischmanns, his sister Alicia has unsettling dreams while little Irina hears voices whispering to her from an old wardrobe. But Max spends most of his time with his new friend Roland, who takes him diving to the wreck of a boat that sank close to the coast in a terrible storm. Everyone on board perished except for one man - an engineer who built the lighthouse at the end of the beach. During the dive, Max sees something that leaves him cold - on the mast floats a tattered flag and on it is the symbol of the circle and six-pointed star. As they learn more about the wreck, the chilling story of a legendary figure called the Prince of Mist begins to emerge . . .

Author: CARLOS RUIZ ZAFON Publisher: ORION

Although
physically handicapped, her adventurous spirit takes her on lonely
rambles into the wildlife sanctuary. She knows the ways of the jungle and
its creatures great and small.
Atiya Sardare lives with her dad, a forest officer. An only child, afflicted
by polio, she finds solace and peace in the jungle, exploring it on short,
secret, often dangerous treks. On one occasion she hears the haunting
notes of a flute. It gives her goose bumps. She vows to learn to play the
instrument much against her father’s wishes. Her music lessons bring her
close to the grouchy old anthropologist, Ogre Uncle, and his Kurumba
tribal daughter, Mishora. Atiya’s gift transforms her father’s view, it calms
the rogue elephant, Rangappa and helps nurture a blossoming friendship
between a teenage boy and girl.
THE AUTHOR
Leela Gour Broome enjoys playing with words–painting her puns into
cartoons or cooking up real and imaginary yarns for children and anyone
else who is willing to listen. She studied Western music and loves nature
having experienced much of it first-hand in nine years of tea plantation
life in South India. She thinks she is creative at craft, which she enjoys
with her granddaughter. For sixteen glorious years she conducted nature
and environment camps for kids she considers all her campers a part
of her own family and from all accounts its a feeling that’s apparently
mutual. She collects quirky, decorative cows and has them all over her
farmhouse. She is married to a diehard gentleman farmer and lives on an
organic, wooded farm outside Pune, with a menagerie of pets, resident
and migratory birds and some wild animals. To know more about the
author and her experiences in the forest

Author: LEELA GOUR BROOME Publisher: PUFFIN

Obama has written a moving tribute to 13 groundbreaking
Americans and the ideals that have shaped our nation. From the
artistry of Georgia O'Keeffe, to the courage of Jackie Robinson,
to the patriotism of George Washington, President Obama sees
the traits of these heroes within his own children, and within all
of America's children. Breathtaking, evocative illustrations by
award-winning artist Loren Long at once capture the
personalities and achievements of these great Americans and
the innocence and promise of childhood. This beautiful book
celebrates the characteristics that unite all Americans, from our
nation's founders to generations to come. It is about the
potential within each of us to pursue our dreams and forge our
own paths.

Author: BARACK OBAMA Publisher: KNOPF

Journey into a land of fantasy and adventure with a master storyteller.

Bogey and his sister Rumu are agonizing over the disappearance of a beloved pet when they find solace and understanding from an unexpected quarter—their wise servant Jhogru. From the yellow bird whose feather has turned their dog into a little boy, to the existence of the mythical winged horse, to the guna-moni tree that only flowers when planted on an ash-heap, Jhogru’s zany tales draw the children into an enchanting world
of magic where fact and fiction merge.

Lila Majumdar’s sensitivity and imagination, along with dashes of wit and humour, have long made this award-winning novella an unforgettable childhood experience for many readers. Available in English for the first time, this classic adventure will delight children everywhere.

Author: LILA MAJUMDAR
